Nothing Wrong
I’m back. And not in a very good mood.
I haven’t paid any attention to the news for a long time. What occupies my time is facebook, day in and day out. But since the death and the highly attended funeral of then Pres. Cory Aquino, I managed to get my brain fixed on national tv again and occassionally, browse the short articles on the current president and her abubots.
There’s no question about it, the obvious disparity between the late and the current women leaders. Cory may not be the best president this country ever had, she definitely had her shortcoming, but nobody can question her integrity and selfless service to her people. Hers was a reputation untainted by controversies of corruption, even after she relinquished her role.
On the other hand, the current chief may not hold the same values as her predecessor. Since last week, news on her extravagant trips and fancy dinners has been the talk of the town. The other day, I read about a plan of purchasing a private plane which was later on scrapped. I wonder, was it because it came at the wrong time, when the whole nation is still outraged by the million dollar dinners? And why was there a buy-plane-plan anyway? This morning, I opened my yahoo account and not surprisingly, another enraging headline that GMA overspent travel budget by P1 billion which goes on to say, there’s nothing wrong with it. Nothing wrong with it? Who are you kidding!
As I travel every morning from office to home, I witness the same street vendors tolerating either heat or rain, placidly selling their cheap merchandise to commuters. Imagine the difference the P1 billion could do to so many poor filipinos. Tsk, I just wish a lighting will strike all these thick faced officials.
How can we ever get used to these kinds of news? I wish I had not read the news today… I wish I had not. Nothing wrong with being blissfully ignorant.
