Now A Farmer

Betchabygollywow!!!! It’s almost a month since my last entry here… I almost forgot I had a blog!

I traded my it for Facebook.  Eversince I got hooked in this social networking site, it has occuppied most of my computer time and writing anything has become a forgotten chore.  But can you blame me?  I thought its just a replica of Friendster, only under different name, but I was wrong.  Its far more amusing, more interactive, and more amusing.  So  amusing that I shifted from a blogger to a farmer.

farm

It’s still small.  I ran out of money after buying that farm house, with doors even smaller than my avatar’s head, and not much left for expansion.  So now, Im back to planting corn, sunflower, wheat, and holding myself back from splurging on those lovely flowers.

Alright, that settles my nagging Firefly conscience…. I have to go check my crops if they’re ready to harvest.

Background Trial

Before I settled with the defunct savanna theme, I tried a dozen on my blog, straining my own and other people’s eyes with the frequent change.   Well,  I’m back to that theme-itching and fiddling with my page’s background… downloading..  uploading…  and soon discarding after only a few minutes of trial.   It’s a tiring undertaking, that earned me two afternoons of backache and dark eyebags.

Savanna was a good theme but I got tired of the dark background.  I wanted something light with just two columns, easily readable default fonts, and  one that wont distort my photo entry alignment.  Vidiyal,, which in Tamil means “the dawn of a new day”, had these primary considerations.    It’s the best I can come up with after hours of searching and experimenting  (well, at least the theme’s name is promising).  But here’s a feature that  I really like  – customizing the header photo is effortless.   For a technically challenged individual like me,  it’s actually what drew the final convincing.  Anyway, I think I did a poor job at cropping the photo and I am compelled to show the original shot taken, of course, from my ever  weekend park  Esplanade:

It wont be a wonder if, every so often, I will change the theme again.. until I give up and settle back to my original choice.    The present theme gives a little inspiration for my budding interest for photography… and maybe, I’ll stick with it a bit longer.

Change-ling

Like my good friend Hannah, I’m giving this blog a little facelift.  I’m dishing my dark savanna theme for a cooler, lighter one which kinda represents my personal temperament at the moment. Yeah, believe it or not…. I feel more relaxed right now, despite the start of the busy accounting season.  I’m getting more sleep and leaving work earlier.

The effect of being free from the bondage of Pipeline!  :)

The Edward Effect

Moon Rising

If a picture paints a thousand words, then why was I particularly drawn to Edward Cullen when I saw this photo from one of my passionate photographer friends, Crom?  I have an inkling that your ears are  now so accustomed to the name that it would instantly register without the need of any introduction.  The entire universe seems to be immensely obsessed with bloodsuckers nowadays.

I read the first book, Twilight, several months ago upon the recommendation of one who, I thought, would be the last to even lay a hand on a love story.  I knew that she was a voracious reader and not wanting to be left in the sidelines when the whole book discussion starts, I decided to read it.  At that time, the vampire madness has not enveloped the peaceful world yet and it was still easy to find an ignored copy in any bookstore.

As the story unraveled and Edward was slowly revealed, I began to understand why he was catapulted to a Romeo-like status, the origins of which, the imagination of many as the perfect gentleman with the angelic face so handsome, it could be blinding!  His graceful movements, his voice, his piercing golden eyes…  The author’s almost abusive adulation of Edward is a potion a few can resist.  Who wouldn’t want to fall helpless in his uncomfortable granite hard arms?  Well, I wouldn’t.  He is still a vampire! Yaiks!  Talk about embracing the dead.

Not long since, I had read the rest of the saga.  And although there were episodes where I just cringed at severe romantic narrations, I still craved to know the story’s ending. A vampire who fell in love with a human diffused the horrific pictures I had in mind.

Has Edward worked his spell on me?  Yes and No.  I’m not sure.  I enjoyed the story but I cant quite separate the gentleman from the vampire.  Its a bloody and fatal combination.  I’ll just leave him to the creatures of the night and content myself to following his adventures on the pages of the novel.
